2020-01-18 Dinas Cross

Twenty four walkers enjoyed spring like conditions for the walk near Dinas Cross.
The route followed bridal paths to Penrhyn and then along the coast path for a break at Aber Bach beach.
From there it was a steady climb of 700 ft through varied terrain to reach the flank of Garn Fawr. There were frequent stops along the way to take in the fine views of Fishguard Bay, and to remove jackets, now unnecessary in the sunshine.
Lunch was taken beside the ruins of Tai Ceimion/Crooked Houses, before continuing across farmland to reach the Gwaun Valley and a steep descent through woodland to the riverside path. One of the few benefits of the recent wet weather was that the normally placid River was now in full flow with stretches of white water.
We left the river at  Llanychaer bridge for the return leg visiting the Llanawer Holy Well along the way.
Post walk refreshments were had at the Ship Inn, Lower Town, Fishguard. A cosy traditional pub, said to be 250 years old.
