Pembrokeshire ramblers enjoyed perfect weather for an eight-mile walk in the eastern part of the Preseli mountains on Saturday August 24th.

The party of 14 started the walk with a short but steep climb up to the top of Foeldrygarn where a bit of time was spent enjoying the extensive views over the mountains and taking photos by the trig point.  In spite of the blue skies and sunshine there was still a brisk wind blowing at the top and it was very much a case of everyone hanging on to their hats!

From the summit the group wound their way down and across to the golden road and on to Carn Menyn where a brief stop was taken for coffee before carrying on to Carn Bica.   

The route then took the group down to the 'crossroads' where they turned right and started the gentle descent down to Carnalw passing Carn Goedog on the way.  At this point there were wonderful views of the northern flanks of the Preselis with heather and gorse very much in evidence.

Carnalw provided a dramatic setting for a well earned lunch break before the ramblers carried on down towards Blaenffynnon picking up a pretty bridleway that took them across several mountain streams.

The group then cut across some quite difficult and boggy ground before linking up with the path that skirts round the base of Foeldrygarn to take them back to the starting point on the Crymych to Mynachlogddu road.
